Our Story
A culinary journey from Sri Lanka to Osaka
New Rajasthan was founded in 1999 with a single vision: to bring the authentic, vibrant flavors of Sri Lanka and the world to the heart of Osaka.
After years in the Nakazaki-cho neighborhood, we relocated and reopened in Kurosaki-cho — a fresh space, the same passionate kitchen.
Owner-chef Ost trained at Sri Lanka's prestigious hotel school before earning his stripes at 5-star properties. His path continued through fine dining in Germany and Norway, and ultimately to Japan — where he has built a 30+ year reputation for dishes that defy easy categorization.
From classic curry and biryani to tuna carpaccio and handmade pasta — New Rajasthan is not just a restaurant. It is the story of a life spent in pursuit of great food.
